- Before book your air flights ticket, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the date entry !   • PACKING ESSENTIAL ITEM

-  Depend on destination, the ultimate goal when travelling is to bring one carry on luggage, but it is quite impossible to fit and carry everything on hand. Make a list of essential items and pack only what you need !

  • CASH AND CREDIT CARD

- Don't bring a lot of cash, but it's always good to keep some emergency purposes. Exchange enough cash in local currency if you plan to go to smaller town or remote areas. Credit cards are accepted in most major shopping malls, restaurants and hotels with a minimum spending MYR 50.

  • MEDICAL AND HEALTH PRECAUTIONS

- Do keep in mind that accidents can happen. If you require any medical or health treatment, there are government and private medical care available in most areas. Make sure you have adequate travel health insurance to bear the costs. If not, tourists will still be given attention, but medical bills may incur extra unplanned costs.

  • GETTING AROUND

- Malaysia has many transportation systems to choose from, such as taxi, car rental, commuter train, monorail and buses. Be careful when getting into a taxi, as some of drivers don't use meters. Make sure to confirm that your taxi driver is using the meter taxi.

  • THE IMPORTANT DO'S AND DONT'S

- Malaysia is generally a peaceful country with a multi-cultural and ethnic nation, with its own customs and practice.

  • SMILE AND SHAKE HAND

- Generally handshakes are accepted but don't shake them unless your acquaintances are familiar with the western culture. Some Muslim ladies would prefer to be greeted verbally with a " HELLO " and smile, they may even refuse a handshake. Don't feel offended. It is custom that most Muslim women do not accept handshakes from opposite sex.

  • NO PDA ALLOWED !

- Public displays of affection are a big NO on roads and other public places in Malaysia.

  • SHOES OFF

- Always remember to remove your shoes if you see a no-shoes sign in places of worship and when entering Malaysian home.

  • DO IT RIGHT

- Use the right hand when eating, and during giving or receiving something from another person, as it is deemed to be more appropriate rather than using the left hand.

- Malaysians are generally friendly and they love to hear visitors speak in their native language. Simple words like "Terima Kasih" ( Thank you), " Tolong" ( Please ), "Selamat Pagi" ( Good Morning ) and "Di Mana" ( Where ) can take you long way.
